Filing requirements:
- Specification in triplicate;
- Patents claims in triplicate with no limit to the number of claims; omnibus claims also remains acceptable, subject to possible constraints imposed by evidence of novelty;
- An abstract comprising the title and a summary of the disclosure, in triplicate, preferably not exceeding 150 words. If reference is made to a drawing, the relevant reference numerals should be enclosed in brackets, and the relevant figure number should be indicated;
- Drawings, as required, in triplicate;
- Form of Authorization of Agent, may be filed up to three months after lodgement of application;
- Declaration of Inventor ship( not later than sixteen months from the date of filing or earliest priority date of the application; as appropriate), containing full name(s), addressee(s), of the inventor, and particulars of the assignments or other derivation in the Application Form, which is prepared by the resident agent, if available at the time of filing of the application. A later filed Declaration of Inventor ship may also be signed by the resident agent;
- Certified copy of priority application, not later than sixteen months from the earliest priority date of the application;
- A verified translation of priority document, if this is not in English, not than twenty one months from the earliest priority date of the application;
- Microorganisms deposit information, not later than sixteen months from the date of filing or earliest priority date of the application, as appropriate;
- Novelty statement (i.e. a statement as to the form in which it is intended to satisfy the evidence of novelty requirement(see below), not later than twenty one months from the date of filing or earliest priority date of the application, as appropriate;

Trademarks
Filing requirements:
- 2 representations of the mark;
- List of goods services;
- Information as to whether the trademark is in use in Ireland or whether the application has a bona fide intention that the mark should be used by the applicant or with the applicant's consent in relation to the goods or services;
- Certified copy of basic foreign application, if convention priority is claimed(must be filed within three months of filing date), together with a verified English translation where necessary;
- Where colour is claimed, an indication of the colours concerned;
- Particulars of any disclaimers or limitations to be entered against the trademarks;
Granting:
10 years from the date of registration
Renewals:
For a period of ten years;
Designs and Models
Filing requirements:
- Power of attorney;
- Power of attorney, must be filed within three weeks of filing date;
- 4 copies of the drawing or photograph and 1 extra drawing for each additional class, 1 copy for agent's file;
- Statement identifying novelty of design;
- Priority document (if applicable) together with verified English translation where necessary; must be filed within three months of filing date
Granting:
- Five years after filing;
Renewals:
- For two further periods five years;

- be an Irish citizen or resident (individual) registering his own personal name, or
- be an incorporated company registering its corporate name, or
- have a registered trademark, or
- be a sole trader, company or unincorporated association who hold a registered business name
- besides, all applicants who are not situated in Ireland must demonstrate a real and substantive connection with Ireland (with the exception of those applying by means of Community Trademark).
