Filing requirements:
- Power of attorney
- Document on the deposit of the microorganism in an international depository authority, if applicable)
- Specifications, claims, abstract and drawings (if any), appropriate for reproduction- 1 copy
- A priority document, if the priority is be claimed
Notes: the formal documents (power of attorney, priority documents, etc.) can be filed later, within a period of three months calculated from the filing date. The specification can be filed in English, German, French or Russian. Only the claims, abstract and textual matter on drawings have to be translated into Latvian.
PCT applications:
- Time limit for entering the national phase: 31 months from priority date
Granting:

Trademarks
Filing requirements:
- Power of attorney
- 10 copies of representation of the mark.
- A priority document, if priority is to be claimed
- Name and address of the applicant
- The marks (word mark or label) and the list of goods for which the mark should be protected
- For collective mark only: a certified copy of the statute of the association
Granting:
- Ten years beginning with the filing date, extensible for further periods of ten year
Renewals:
- Can be submitted during the last year of validity
Designs and Models
Filing requirements:
- Name and address of the applicant ;
- Name and address of creator of design ;
- A description of the industrial design;
- A power of attorney;
- Priority document (can be filed within three months)
- Complete reproduction set of the industrial design which provides a full and detailed idea of the external appearance; 6 photos of main view and 4 photos of each other view, the drawings can be filed instead;
- Deed of assignment, only if the applicant is not the same as the one shown in the priority document;
Granting:
- Five years from the date of application;
Renewals:
- Within the last year before the due date, for further two five year periods
