Customs and IPR Report 2010
The World Customs Organization released its annual report regarding activities carried out by customs authorities for the protection of Intellectual Property Rights. This report can be found not only a comprehensive analysis of seizures of counterfeit and pirated goods during 2010, but also a regional and sectoral analysis, allowing to understand which key trends, origins and destinations of such products.
Acording to the report:
- China and India are the countries with more departures of counterfeited materials;
- USA and Germany are on the top of the destinations;
- Tobacco and Textile articles were the top seized goods (over 400 million Euros each);
- The top counterfeited trademarks are Louis Vuitton and Nike (over 70 million Euros each);
This publication, awakes to the need to further develop awareness campaigns to consumers in order to combat threats to public health and safety caused by the marketing and consumption of these products.
