Filing requirements:
- Name and address of the applicant and the inventor(s), the title of invention, and in Convention applications, the country, filing date and serial number of the basic applications;
- Power of attorney;
- Assignment document, if the applicant is not the actual inventor. The assignment need usually not be legalized, but the Patent Office may require legalization;
- Specification, claims and abstract in triplicate;
- Drawings in triplicate, in black on white paper;
- If the invention refers to the microbiological process or to products from such a process, a culture of the microorganism must be deposited in a recognized institution, if the microorganism is not available to the public or cannot be described in the application in such a way that a person skilled in the art can carry out the invention with guidance thereof. Such a deposition must be made not later than the date of filing or priority date, if priority claimed, proof of such a deposition must be submitted to the patent office within two months from filing date;

- For device marks only: 10 copies of the mark in black and white; for colour marks: 5 copies in colour and 5 in black and white;

Filing requirements:
- 1 or more pictures (drawings or photos) showing all aspects of the design. 2 sets must be filed, and be suitable for black and white reproduction. A model may also be filed;

- Five years from filing date;
Renewals:
- Renewed for two more five year periods;
